Microsoft gives Hyper-V a GPL twist, releases Hyper-V LinuxIC under GPLv2

Microsoft has given 20,000 lines of device driver code to the Linux community. The move, Microsoft said, will offer better performance for the various Linux distributions when ran virtualized on Windows Server 2008 Hyper-V and Server 2008 R2 Hyper-V. In other related news, Hell is reporting record temperature drops within the last twenty-four hours.
http://itmanagement.earthweb.com/columns/article.php/3768721/Microsofts-Man-in-Open-Source-Sam-Ramji-on-Redmonds-Linux-Strategy.htm
Sam Ramji, Microsoft’s senior director of Platform Strategy in the Server and Tools organization said, “We are seeing Microsoft communities and open source
communities grow together, which is ultimately of benefit to our customers… A central part of our strategy is the work done in the OSTC, which we opened about three years ago. The OSTC has a deep technical expertise in Linux, UNIX and open source technologies, along with strong social connections into open source communities.”

“Today’s release would have been unheard of from Microsoft a few years ago, but it’s a prime example that customer demand is a powerful catalyst for change,” he added.

So what exactly was released? How is this related to a sudden deep freeze reported in Hell?

Simple, Microsoft, just two years ago, said that free and open source software (FOSS) violated two hundred thirty-five Microsoft patents, and discussed how they were going to get FOSS users to pay royalties. The news and hype around the two-hundred plus violations amounted to little more than FUD. However, Microsoft did get some FOSS companies to pay up. Xandros, Linspire, and several other companies all signed cross patent licensing deals with Microsoft, which include patent covenants.

So now, when the news came Monday that Microsoft was releasing Linux device driver code to the Linux kernel community, there was a collective gasp from IT and developers within that same community.

“This is a significant milestone because it’s the first time we’ve released code directly to the Linux community. Additionally significant is that we are releasing the code under the GPLv2 license, which is the Linux community’s preferred license,” said Tom Hanrahan, the director of the OSTC.

“The Linux device drivers we are releasing are designed so Linux can run in enlightened mode, giving it the same optimized synthetic devices as a Windows virtual machine running on top of Hyper-V. Without this driver code, Linux can run on top of Windows, but without the same high performance levels. We worked very closely with the Hyper-V team at Microsoft to make that happen.”

Now, jokes aside, the fact that Hyper-V is going to have stable Linux support is good news. For the longest time analysts have called Hyper-V’s strict link to Windows a weak point. Granting IT shops the ability to take advantage of Hyper-V and still use Linux in the same environment is smart money for Microsoft and a savings for all the administrators who have to pinch pennies.

It’s clear that this is a business move. Microsoft will stand to profit from turning Windows into a hosting setting for IT shops that want to run both the Linux and Windows platforms. However, this announcement also signals that Microsoft agrees that releasing code and making contributions to the open-source software community under the GPL is acceptable. There is no other way to read this news, Microsoft has started to move forward, and everyone will benefit.

HP's TouchSmart tx2

The TouchSmart tx2 has a WXGA 12.1-inch, multi-touch glass display with capacitive touch featuring N-Trig’s DuoSense technology, and what that basically means is that you can use either your fingers or a pen. Make sure to check out the video demo below. It’s pretty darn impressive. You’ll see in the demo that the multi-touch functionality also extends beyond the HP MediaSmart 2.0 suite of applications to other apps such as Windows Explorer. The MediaSmart 2.0 software lets you watch movies, view photos, play music, watch TV on demand and listen to radio.

This video link demonstrates how the tx2 recognizes simultaneous input from more than one finger using “capacitive multi-touch technology,” which enables the use of gestures such as pinch, rotate, arc, flick, press and drag, and single and double tap. While those functions are brought by N-Trig, and as such are available on the more expensive Dell Latitude XT, HP have also added a few modifications of their own. A gesture-based app launcher is one particularly neat enhancement: after a double-tap on the display, the tx2 will recognize a letter traced out with your finger and load whatever software is linked.

VIRTUAL MACHINE ---NUMERO DUO !!

RUNNING XP INSIDE VISTA !!!

virtual machine-- an innovative work by SUN microsystems which provides an operating system in an operating system---The OS in which VM is installed is called host and the OS in VM is called guest--well the main idea is to run an OS inside an OS for instance running UBUNTU(flavour of linux) inside Windows 7 ..... very helpful for novices who want 2 learn linux and install them without actually disturbing the windows file system ...

My experience : Well i have lately attended a webinar of SUN microsystems online where the SUN executives would clear ur doubts on VMware ...i realised an important feature of VMware which clicked in my mind with awe ...i asked whether if the guest OS in the VM is affected by a virus would it bloat out of the scope ?? ...one of the executives replied NO it can also be used for security purpose in which ur host OS is free from risk ...ive been using virtual machine for couple of years now and it is a wonder Tool for newbies ...download the latest VMware from SUN microsystem's website .... thnk u !!!

what you should do when your attacked in an atm centre....

WHEN A THIEF FORCES YOU TO TAKE MONEY FROM THE ATM, DO NOT ARGUE OR RESIST,
YOU MIGHT NOT KNOW WHAT HE OR SHE MIGHT DO TO YOU. WHAT YOU SHOULD DO IS TO

PUNCH YOUR PIN IN THE REVERSE, I..E IF YOUR PIN IS 1254, YOU PUNCH 4521.

THE MOMENT YOU PUNCH IN THE REVERSE, THE MONEY WILL COME OUT BUT WILL BE

STUCK INTO THE MACHINE HALF WAY OUT AND IT WILL ALERT THE POLICE WITHOUT THE NOTICE OF THE THIEF.
EVERY ATM HAS IT; IT IS SPECIALLY MADE TO SIGNIFY DANGER AND HELP. NOT

AJAY BHATT- the INTEL GEEK

Have you ever thought of boarding a plane 100 times faster than that of its original speed? Have you ever thought of running your bicycle at 200 km/hr??strange questions??!!!!!!
rather strange to answer ,but here is a man,AJAY BHATT, with such innovative thinking.A geek who co-invented USB,something which is 2.5-G Hz fast compared to the 133-MHz link that was the backbone of millions of computers and embedded systems. This was way back in 2000 but only got recognition recently as the INTEL ORGANIZATION decided to dedicate this man's achievement through means of an advertisement where INTEL tags him as their "ROCK STAR".
What's relevant from here on is that v all should take inspiration from this INDI@N geek and have innovative notions so that there will be an array of "INDIAN ROCK STARS".

New Apple iPhone released on 09-06-2009

The new Apple iPhone 3GS got released on 09-June-2009 at the UK, which received excellent reception. The new iPhone has been bought into the market with 2 variants. The 3GS  will cost about a whooping $200 for the 16GB model and $300 for the 32GB model, there by lowering the price of its earlier version to about $100, making it pretty affordable.
The added features include a new processor for increased efficiency of the system, a 3 mp auto focus camera which was not present in the iPhone 3G, and the most awaited development is the video recording provision enabled with a VGA. The significant attraction is the addition of Blue tooth 2.1, even though it can connect only the head sets. Improved battery back up and Security system, make the new 3GS worth its price tag.

IAF givin tough competetion to USAF

Did you guys had an opportunity to go and check out about the recent happenings of the Indian armed forces?...... Well i had a once in a life time opportunity to live up to my dream. I had been to the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited(HAL) at Bangalore city. I was surprised to see the staggering potential and the power which our country posses in the field of aviation, be it civil or army. The latest happening which i had found was the 'IAF Lakshay'. This unmanned aircraft is the Desi version of the 'Predator'. Predator was developed and manufactured by Boeing for the USAF 5 years ago, the technology installed in it was the reason for its critical appreciation. It had all the latest features like NVG, Infrared Target Locking , Stealth, Survey cameras and could even carry missiles for mass destruction purpose. The most interesting feature of this aircraft is even if all the missiles get used up the aircraft itself can be used as a missile in much needed situations.

The IAF Lakshay is built with almost the same features. The reason why it is more critically acclaimed than the Predator is the Stealth technology was a kept a secret by the USAF, and no one knew how it could be made. But due to the relentless efforts of our scientists the Indians made it themselves. The main difference which diversifies the Predator and Lakshay is Predator is provided with a propeller which enables it to capture good quality images, but this reduces the speed of Predator, Where as Lakshay is is provided with a jet engine enabling it to travel at supersonic speeds and cover a large range of area.

Both Predator and Lakshay were used for surveillance in Afghanistan, for spying purpose. This is just an example of the might the IAF posses, no wonder it is ranked the 4Th strongest force in the world.

T20 england -----JINX CONTINUES !!

T20 fever started with a blow .....yesterday in the warm-up match between India and new Zealand...nzl won the the match with 9 runs....ind and nzl have played 3 T20s so far in which India couldn't even achieve a one victory ...This jinx continued even in the practice match yesterday...

Action :

India have won the toss and elected to field ...mccullum has provided a good start ,but wickets fall at regular intervals...Still even the tail enders contributed by scoring 31 runs in last 2 overs ...ishant sharma took 4 wickets was quit economical provided blow for india at right time ...pragyan ojja was quite expensive but still took critical wickets ...NZL has set up target of 171...

Chasing:

In reply india are off to a flyer thanks 2 the deccan charger rohit sharma..since sehwag is out with injury ghambir and sharma opened the innings...ghambir looked shaky and chucked his wicket away...sharmas furious 36 off 20 balls illuded a victory on cards ...After he got out suresh raina took the job of sharma and scored 45 off 21 balls who dispatched vettori for 2 sixes in an over ...It looked liked victory assured comfortably for india....since the wicket of suresh raina everything turned the 'kiwi way'...finally jadejas even couldnt help india chase the target ...They were short by 9 runs ...Hope india break the jinx soon in the super 8's .

Breaking up the security jargon.... !!

When it comes to security it is always a diaspora of complicity where as the users often miffed up and most of us prefer free software to the commercial ones but only to realize that the commercial versions work better , so some of us often ponder about hacking and google online for keys which may mostly leave you in despair so let me make you happy.

They say kaspersky the best one but how many of us can afford ?? so follow the steps below

1. download the most trusted and free firewall from www.comodo.com

2.download the free version of AVG from http://free.avg.com/

3. install comodo and disable your windows default firewall and activate comodo

4. install free AVG

REASON : comodo can prevent the most hazardous internet attacks where as AVG can prevent the basic ones this combination shall just work fine ,don’t believe me?? just try and see !!!

caution: Dont forget the updation !!

conclusion: Now this package acts as a complete and effective internet security ,if u have any queries just mail me at vamsi.spr@gmail.com
